SysML concepts and components

Look up SysML concepts, their properties and relationships, or borrow graphical components for your own modeling tools. Choose the path that fits what you want to do.

Start with the foundations

Use Understand parts and ports to connect definitions, usages, ownership, composition and notation through one assembly example, then follow the detailed profiles.

The first slice separates four mechanisms that can otherwise look like “containment”: model ownership, namespace membership, feature context, and composition versus reference.

Browse 17 focus concepts and eight supporting ancestors. Inspect 180 property declarations, normalized bounds and defaults, effective inheritance and original source links.

Start with PartUsage, PartDefinition, PortUsage and ConnectionUsage: source-checked draft profiles connecting properties, relationships, examples and representative graphical notation to evidence.

Borrow the SVG components

If you are building a renderer or modeling interface, use the SVG shape library to download reusable parts, ports and connections. Transparent assets, editable labels, attachment coordinates and a symbol sprite are available under Apache 2.0.

Track graphical notation coverage

The notation dashboard indexes 192 labeled source cells and 639 graphical grammar production occurrences. It links our six grouped notation records to their sources and tracks illustration scope separately from indexing. These are source-unit counts, not unique-symbol counts. The parts-and-ports audit records each selected alternative and its rendering support or explicit deferral.

Query and reuse the catalogue

Download the RDF files and source manifest, or explore the saved SPARQL queries. Everything is maintained as reviewable files in the GitHub repository.

The catalogue uses RDF for linked records, SHACL for inventory integrity, and SPARQL for exploration. OWL currently describes the catalogue vocabulary; it does not implement SysML semantic reasoning.

Coverage is explicit

This is an initial research inventory. Representative notation for four profiles has been checked against the official specification. Effective properties account for explicit redefinitions and declaration identity. Constraint bodies are not evaluated, and examples have not been executed. No language completeness or conformance claim is made. See the coverage limits.
